Mayweather-Alvarez fight inaasahang patok sa takilya

MANILA, Philippines - Itataya ng five-division American world champion na si Floyd Mayweather ang kanyang malinis na record kontra kay Mexican Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez sa kanilang sagupaan para sa WBC at WBA super welterweight crowns sa MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Ayon sa 36-gulang na si Mayweather, kaya niyang harapin ang anumang hamon na ibibigay ni Alvarez. “If the game plan is to keep pressure, I can handle it,” aniya sa news conference ng kanilang laban. “If the game plan is to out-box me, nobody can out-box me. You have to be able to out-match me mentally and I’m the strongest mental fighter in the sport of boxing. I’ve been here before so I know what it takes.”

Ipinagmamalaki ni Mayweather ang kanyang mabilis na kamao at mabilis na pagkilos sa ring. Kilala siyang defensive fighter  at mahilig mang-trash talk ng kalaban.

“He’s 42-0, but he hasn’t faced 42 Floyd Mayweathers because he’d be 0-42,” sabi pa ng American boxer na may 44-0 record kabilang ang 26 knockouts. “Career-wise, I’m OK, no matter what the outcome is. I’m focused on going out there, performing well and giving the fans what they want to see - excitement.”

Si Mayweather na tinatawag na ‘Money’ dahil sa kanyang marang-yang lifestyle, ay may guaranteed prize na $41.5 million na isang record habang ang 23-gulang na si Alvarez ay kikita ng $12.5 million, na pinakamalaki niyang premyo.
