PNPA cadet patay sa suntok ng upperclassman

MANILA, Philippines — Limang suntok sa sikmura ang sanhi nang pagkamatay ng isang 3rd Class Cadet ng Philippine National Police Academy (PNPA) mula sa kaniyang upperclassman, ayon sa ulat kahapon.

Sa isang statement, kinumpirma ni P/Lt. Col. Louie Gonzaga, Chief ng PNPA Public Information Office (PIO) ang pagkamatay ng biktimang si Cadet 3rd Class Karl Magsayo ng Zamboanga City at kasapi ng PNPA Batch 2024.

Base sa report ng Silang Municipal Police Station (MPS) ang 21-anyos na si Magsayo at kaibigan nito ay nagtungo sa kuwarto sa dormitory ng suspect na si Cadet 2nd Class Steve Cesar Maingat bandang alas-5:40 ng hapon noong Huwebes.

Ayon sa testigo  pinagsusuntok  umano ni Mai­ngat si Magsayo ng limang beses sa sikmura bunsod upang mawalan nang ulirat ang huli. Hindi pa malinaw kung anong dahilan nang panununtok ni Maingat sa nasabing underclassman.

Sinabi ni Gonzaga na si Magsayo ay mabilis na isinugod sa Qualimed Hospital pero idineklara na itong dead-on-arri­val dakong alas-6:43 ng gabi. Isinailalim naman sa kustodya ng pulisya ang suspect.

Nakatakda namang isailalim sa inquest proceeding ang suspect sa darating na Lunes, Set­yembre 27.

“An extensive investigation is being conducted to ferret out the truth about what happened that led to this tragic but isolated incident while the body of Cdt Magsayo is subject to an autopsy to determine the cause of death. We would like to assure everyone especially the family that we will make anyone accountable should the findings so warrant ang give justice to whom it is due “, anang opisyal.

Kaugnay nito, ipinag­utos na ni PNPA Director P/ Major General Rhoderick Armamento ang pagbuo ng Special Investigating Task Group (SITG)- Magsayo sa pamumuno ni Chief of Staff P/Col. Atty. Ernesto Tendero bilang Tactical Group Commander upang alamin ang mga kaganapan sa pagkamatay ng nasabing kadete.

Samantalang tiniyak naman ng opisyal na nanatili ang mahigpit na polisiya ng PNPA sa “No To Hazing Policy” at pinananatili ang mataas na respeto sa buhay at karapatan ng mga kadete at personnels ng akademya.

“We condemn to the strongest possible term any acts that are violative of the same.

We express our sincerest condolences to the family of the late Cadet 3rdClass Magsayo and pray that God comfort us all following this tra­gedy,” pahayag nito.
