AboitizPower builds school in San Fernando

Manila, Philippines -  AboitizPower, in partnership with the Aboitiz Foundation, recently forged a partnership with the city of San Fernando, Pampanga, to build a four-classroom building for Malpitic Elementary School.

AboitizPower pledged to help improve the quality of education for the youth of Barangay Malpitic, represented by San Fernando Mayor Oscar Rodriguez.

“We believe that the greatest legacy we can leave to our children is education. In trying to provide quality education to our students, infrastructure that are conducive to learning, equipment that they can use to aid them in their studies, and the opportunity to be enrolled despite financial difficulties, are of primary importance,” AboitizPower VP Roland Gaerlan said.

Over 50 percent of Aboitiz Foundation’s annual budget for projects was allocated for education-related initiatives.

In 2011, the company funded the construction and refurbishment of 15 school buildings and over 150 classrooms in the country, and has partnered with Aklat, Gabay, Aruga tungo sa Pag-angat at Pag-asa (AGAPP) Foundation to fight illiteracy.

“AboitizPower continues to stand by its commitment to assist communities where we operate. We hope that this building will help in the improvement in the quality of education of our youth here in San Fernando City. We hope to be of more assistance to the city in the coming years,” Gaerlan added.

The P3.6-million project will be jointly funded by the city government of San Fernando City.
