FedEx Cares Week focuses on environment

MANILA, Philippines - FedEx Express, the world’s largest express transportation company, kicked off its fourth annual FedEx Cares Week in the Asia Pacific region recently. FedEx volunteers in 12 Asia markets, including the Philippines, Australia, mainland China, Hong Kong, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, New Zealand, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam, donated their time to community groups and programs as part of a global FedEx initiative involving almost 4,000 employees around the world.

FedEx Cares Week activities had a strong environmental focus, with volunteers supporting 35 local organizations in community activities including tree planting, gardening, and environmental protection education sessions for children. Other projects include childcare activities, visits to elderly centers, and donations of books and stationary.

“FedEx Cares Week is a global show of unity and a demonstration of our continued dedication to the local communities in which we do business. We are continuing to build environmental responsibility into our daily business practices and our employee volunteers are actively engaged in instilling eco-awareness at the grass roots level in their local communities to help improve quality of life,” said David Cunningham Jr., president of FedEx Express Asia Pacific.
