Here’s one more happening from last Christmas season, dahlings: the Sayaw Foundation led by its civic-oriented officers Mita Rufino, Helen Ong, Yaying Dragon, Zeny Cabral, Sol Tan-Gatue, Nini Layug and Tess Rodrigo held a dinner concert at the elegant Mandarin Oriental Manila. Over 200 of Cosmo Manille’s chi-chi set came for the enchanting musical presentation of Austrian pianist Franz Langer and soprano Christa Hemetsberger, Filipino tenor Nolyn Cabahug, the Phil. Ballet Theatre, the Philippine Madrigals and the 747 Band.

Tres-tres visible hot-shots included Ambassadors Christian Tanghe and wife Gul, Robert Collette with wife Marilyn, Umberto Colesanti with his Clara, former First Lady Imelda Marcos with southern beauty Berna Lomotan, Mon and Justa Tantoco, former Miss U Gloria Diaz with her favorite man Mike de Jesus, Jean Monteverde, Beng Puyat, Museo Pambata’s Nina Lim-Yuson joined Cherry Limcaoco and Mean Gangcayco.

Ending this glitzy affair, the guests kept the dance floor rocking til way past 2 am, palanggas, making it one successful fund-raiser for the foundation which aims to cultivate and develop Filipino dance talent.

A half moon ago, dahlings, Barcelo Hotels and Resorts introduced their guest chef Oscar Motlo from Spain at the residence of the company’s CEO of Asia-Pacific John Cogul. Señor Motlo prepared a sumptuous spread for the dignitaries from the Spanish Embassy like deputy head of mission Alvaro de Salas and counsellor Oscar Via, business partners Elizabeth Sy of SM Investments, Antonio Lagdameo and Pedro Roxas, to name a few.

Señor Motlo will be going to all the properties in the Philippines managed by the group, starting with The Barcelo Pearl Farm in Samal. He will be showcasing his work and redesigning the menus in the different properties.
