You are beautiful

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee - The Philippine Star

Filipinas are among the most beautiful women in the world. It is surprising that, according to a recent study, only seven percent of Filipinas think of themselves as beautiful.

To help more women reconnect with themselves and discover what beauty is all about, the first ever Dove Summit was held at the Sofitel Philippine Plaza recently.

Media personalities and beauty bloggers were treated to a two-day staycation that allowed them to rediscover themselves and define what “real beauty” is.

Unilever marketing manager for Dove skin Mian Datu-David said, “A study conducted by Unilever in 2013 showed that only seven percent of Filipinas consider themselves beautiful. This is not acceptable. We need your help to raise this number and reach out to the 93 percent of Filipinas who have yet to realize that they are, indeed, beautiful.”

Together with @Doveph, thousands of women across the nation were able to join the live conversation and pledge their support to the real beauty advocacy through the hashtags #realbeauty, #realcare and #iambeautiful. In just two hours, #realbeauty trended, gaining over 66 million impressions on social media.

The second day of the beauty summit showcased the superior technology of the brand’s different product categories: Skin, Hair and Deos. With these products, Dove continues to help women to take better care of themselves because the brand believes that “real beauty comes from real care.” Il Giardano di Eva

Designer Rosanna Ocampo’s latest collection, Il Giardano di Eva (The Garden of Eve), is inspired by nature. Floral designs are present in her beautiful creations of mini-dresses, skirts and long gowns. Ocampo expounds on her trademark use of color to breathe life into the sultry yet feminine theme of her clothing.

Her designs exhibit vivacious printed blooms in silk and French lace. Draping and scalloped edging provide silhouettes designed to fit and flatter.

Gorgeous décolletage-baring halter-tops, flowing caftans and ingenious pleating make each piece an iconic standout amidst the muted grays of Ocampo’s artfully decorated workspace.

At the launch, guests in her showroom eagerly flitted among the racks trying on key dresses from the collection. Celebration of youth

In celebration of the vibrant lifestyle of today’s youth, lifestyle clothing line SM Youth gathered the young and young-at-heart for a night filled with music, art and stunt-based acts at the Megatent Parking Lot in Libis, Quezon City.

The “Youth is a State of Mind” event featured Boys Night Out DJs Toni Tony, Slick Rick and Sam YG and their collaboration with the brand, as well as the launch of SM Youth’s three ambassadors Tommy Esguerra, L.A. Aguinaldo and Janna Tee.

Upbeat sets from DJs Euric Lumanog, Xtina Superstar, Motherbasss (Nix Damn P and Macky Brillantes) and the boys of EDM Phils. (Jared David and Franco Zarate) spun all night. The audience watched as Parkour Manila, bikers from BMX Philippines, skateboard exhibitionists and daredevil car drifters performed thrilling stunts.

To liven up the event, rows of pimped automobiles were paraded in a car show, and an amazing street art was created on the spot by Pilipinas Street Plan.

The event was hosted by Ramon Bautista and DJ Chloe. Event photographer and party crowd favorite Anton Aguila took snaps of the unforgettable night.
