Six and the City

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

There were six birthday celebrators for that particular Saturday in the “Envied Saturdays” series at Nuvo. It was a fun and eclectic group that made the venue, at one particular point, packed in the Mezzanine, the main dining area at the ground floor and the al fresco area.

The group of three friends who were all celebrating their birthdays arrived first. The three were composed of couple Sigrid Villamil of Luxasia and DHL Philippines’ head honcho Duncan Gates from New Zealand with another friend, Manila-based Canadian author Jeremy Bates who entered Nuvo with his Australian fiancé Al Lloyd and American friend Matt Giles. That group alone was a truly international crowd already.

Then the three other birthday celebrators came trickling in with their guests. They were Tere Ribaño, Kailash Ramchandani and Tracey Fragante of Shangri-La Makati.

The three birthday boys and three birthday girls each received a bottle of Skyy vodka care of Lucio Pua of Premiere Wines and Spirits. Tracey, Tere, Kailash and Duncan all got fragrances from Bulgari while Jeremy got an Issey Miyake fragrance, which was his favorite cologne. All gifts were courtesy of Luxasia, one of the frequent sponsors of “Envied Saturdays” at Nuvo. Birthday girl Sigrid, who works in Luxasia, was given Nuvo gift certificates as her birthday gift. All six of them blew out the birthday candles on their cakes from Nuvo at the stroke of midnight.

The fun that night was six times greater than the usual because it was the first birthday bash that exceeded the usual number of five people being feted. The excitement didn’t stop until almost four in the morning. Happy birthday to the six great celebrators!

Watch out for the next birthday bash at Nuvo!
