The new faces of broadband

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -

For two years now, those who love fast Internet access have found a friend in the Globe-powered Tattoo. The broadband has evolved to become the most preferred brand for the young generation.

Head of Globe’s consumer broadband business Nikko Acosta talked about the immense business growth seen over recent years, with a double-digit growth from Tattoo as the brand reached the one million subscriber mark. The topic of 4G was not far from people’s minds, and Acosta put their questions to rest by telling all about the Globe 4G service already available through the country’s first and largest 4G WiMax network for broadband users and also through Globe HSPA+ for mobile data users.

Head of the nomadic broadband business Dong Ronquillo introduced the new Tattoo from the powerful Tattoo Superstick and Tattoo MyFi to the high-performing Tattoo DSL and Tattoo Torque. Guests experienced Tattoo-powered laptops set up in the Ronac Art Center Playground in an event hosted by Joey Mead and STAR columnist RJ Ledesma.

The new Tattoo ambassadors were also introduced: Sarah Gaugler, Alodia Gosiengfiao, Rico Mossesgeld and Saab Magalona. Also included in the roster of ambassadors were runner Rio De la Cruz and rock band General Luna.

Gaugler is a tattoo artist and the vocalist for the band Turbo Goth. Gosiengfiao is a mover and shaker in the cosplay (costume play) world.

Mossesgeld is a tech reporter/blogger who imparts his views on all things techie on his blog technogra.ph. Magalona is now one to watch on popular blog tumblr.com. She sees her blog as a way to interact with people her age and encourage them to support worthy causes.

A Charmed Life

It’s like living a charmed life with Thomas Sabo, a German lifestyle brand that specializes in jewelry products that use 925 sterling silver and zirconia stones.

The silver company recently opened its first boutique in Power Plant Mall in Rockwell, Makati. It introduced its latest Sterling Silver Collection Spring/Summer 2011: Pop art, Pop culture and Pop music, which is why the collection is called Pop Now.

Thomas Sabo’s Pop Now comes in three collections: Rebel at Heart, Classic and Seasonal. Rebel At Heart picks up on the 1980s fashion trend with neon colors. Seasonal comes in bright colors and with oversized shapes. Classic sees particularly popular designs being updated.

The Manila opening was led by Thomas Sabo Philippines managing partners Eric and Cheryl Lee and joined by the silver company director for Asia Franz Lanthaler and visual merchandising for Asia Eske Foerschner. Celebrities Carla Abellana, Heart Evangelista and Daniel Matsunaga were present, all wearing the different collections.

(Thomas Sabo has more than 200 shops and over 2,800 wholesale partners worldwide. Thomas Sabo is on the second floor of Power Plant Mall in Rockwell. Check out www.thomassabo.com)
