Presenting the goddesses of goodness

One of the most awaited fashion spectacle-cum-fundraising affairs of the year, the 2009 Best Dressed Women of the Philippines, was recently presented before the business, diplomatic and high society circles at the Rizal Ballroom of the Shangri-La Makati. It was indeed a showcase of beauty and goodness as the dinner ball and philanthropic activity honored the country’s best dressed women who at the same time projected a commendable and dignified persona. Highlighting the evening was the captivating parade of the best dressed awardees in alluring gowns by the country’s renowned designers like Pitoy Moreno, Inno Sotto and Paul Cabral. Brilliant baritone Jack Salud also gave an enthralling performance that night.

On its sixth year, the prestigious charitable affair has been generating funds in support of cancer awareness and different cancer programs particularly in the areas of advocacy, research and patient services. Organized by a committee founded by your columnist with the Philippine Cancer Society (PCS) as its sole beneficiary, the fundraising event was led by honorary chairperson, multi-papal awardee and philanthropist Imelda Ongsiako Cojuangco, chairman Consul Helen Ong, co-chairman Gerry Contreras and committee members Consul Fortune Ledesma and Asia’s “Fashion Czar” Pitoy Moreno with the assistance of its Ambassadors for Life. The evening raised more money via a charity auction of items generously donated by notable artist Ramon Orlina, FURNitalia, Hoseki, Rafael Jewellery, St. John, Lili Jewellery and F&C Jewelry. Truly a most successful evening for attendees and different cancer programs.

Congratulations and see you next year!
