A tangy new bar called Citrus

THE PEPPER MILL - Pepper Teehankee -
It is destined to be one of the hottest bars in Manila. The former Venezia that later became V Bar has a new sleek look and, yes, a new name: Citrus.

Citrus made its presence felt in late December with a party sponsored by Moet & Chandon. People flocked to check out the new bar. Judging from the turn out, the bar is definitely a hit.

With a new corded-off VIP area replacing the former round bar, new adjustable Lucite bar stools and new interiors done by Anton R. Mendoza, Citrus has the feel of a cozy New York club. Cecille Ysmael was the project manager who oversaw the construction and was responsible for purchasing materials. Music was by Bombi Balquiedra and Tirso Garcia.

Louie Ysmael was on hand to welcome guests to his new bar which was packed with literally the who’s who is Manila’s party scene.

Seen enjoying the party were Cinderella’s Richie Santos, Sid Reyes, Luigi Avanceña, designer Rhett Eala, US Embassy’s AJ Joes, Canadian Embassy’s Bob McCubbing, Leo Po, Marielle Santos, Pia Velasquez, Jose and Tin Moreno, Carminia Pavia, Gerhard Walter, Grant Hughes, Vicki de Leon, Monch Cruz, Edvee Cruz, Jami Ledesma, stockbroker Ian Antonino, Francesco Lops, Toby Consunji Reyes, Jackie and Marco Antonio, Christophe Lejeune, Alana Montelibano, Manny and Mia Padilla and Asia Spirit’s Noel Oñate.

And to think that Citrus hasn’t even had its grand opening yet! The grand opening is on Jan.25, strictly by invitation only. I wonder how packed the place will be?
