WATCH: PNP, Zamora lead destruction of police station obstructing sidewalk in San Juan City

MANILA, Philippines — Philippine National Police and San Juan City Mayor Francis Zamora on Tuesday led the demolition of a police station obstructing the sidewalk in San Juan City.

Zamora and PNP officials, including Director General Oscar Albayalde, National Capital Region Police office Director Guillermo Lorenzo Elazar and PNP spokesperson Police Colonel Ariel Fulo, as well as Eastern Police District police members were present in the destruction of Police Community Precinct 6 in Barangay West Crame, San Juan City.

Barangay West Crame officials also participated in the clearing operations.

The demolition of the police precinct came a day after the Interior and Local Government issued Memorandum Circular No. 2019-121 to local government units across the Philippines to clear public roads used as parking spaces or vending areas for 60 days.

The order took effect Monday, a week after President Rodrigo Duterte ordered the mayors to “reclaim public roads used for private ends” in his fourth State of the Nation Address.
