All-out offensive vs rebel groups

I support General Pio Catapang’s decision to launch an “all-out offensive” against Bangsamoro Islamic Freedom Fighters (BIFF) and Abu Sayyaf Group (ASG) even if it is meant only to neutralize these terror groups. But if they can elevate the execution of the order to the highest level, do not just pursue these bandits, wipe them all out!

We need to flush them now. Keep them on the run at all times until they fizzle out because time will work to their advantage.

Mindanao has always been and will always be a battle ground. Until we elect a president who is not afraid to use force.

I hope this military operation will continue until they are pulverized and not only for public consumption to alleviate the pain of Mamasapano clash.

BIFF is an islamist militant group espousing independence in the Southern Philippines and is mostly active in Maguindanao and other places in central Mindanao while the ASG is the most violent of the Islamic separatist groups operating in and around Jolo and Basilan. Like BIFF, the Abu Sayyaf has been linked to bombing attacks in the region, killing innocent people as well as kidnappings, assassination and extortion. — Mitch Gonzales, Zamboanga City
