FinAsia donates computers to public schools in Pasig

MANILA, Philippines — Thousands of students from five public elementary schools in Pasig City recently received 10 desktop computers as welcome gifts from FinAsia Land Development and Construction Corp. and Rappo Technology Corp., in partnership with PLDT.

The schools – Pasig Elementary School, Palatiw Elementary School, Pineda Elementary School, Pineda Elementary School, Caniogan Elementary School and San Miguel Elementary School – were also provided free fiber optic internet connection for two years, courtesy of FinAsia. PLDT is the internet provider.

The  program, dubbed “Internet sa Eskwelahan Para sa Mabilis na Kaalaman,” also eliminated the need for students to go to the internet shop and risk their safety to do research for their assignments. It also means savings for parents who do not have to pay for their children’s constant trips to the internet shop anymore. They just have to go to their school library for their research needs.

Even teachers can use the donated computers to make their lesson plans and other instructional materials.

“Knowledge should always be available to the rich or poor.  We must bridge the digital divide,” FinAsia chief executive oficer AJ Pangilinan told students, school principals, personnel and fellow executives during the series of events.
