35 get Japanese scholarship

MANILA, Philippines - Thirty-five Filipino students are the latest addition to the roster of the Japanese Government scholars who are scheduled to leave next month (October) to pursue further studies in various Japanese universities. The Japan Information and Culture Center (JICC) of the Embassy of Japan, in cooperation with the Philippine Association of Japanese Government Scholars (PHILAJAMES, Inc.) held a pre-departure orientation for the 2012 Japanese Government Scholars last Sept. 8 at the JICC Multi-Purpose Hall of the Embassy. Minister Shinsuke Shimizu, Head of Chancery of the Embassy of Japan, graced the pre-departure orientation to congratulate the 35 students. Since 1954, the Japanese Government Scholarship has been supporting foreign nationals to study in Japan for advancement of education and the promotion of mutual understanding. Since its implementation more than 50 years ago, there have been about 3,000 Filipino recipients of this scholarship. All Japanese Government Scholarship Programs are offered yearly.
