AN OBE-WHATNOW? Curious kids asked what construction workers were building in what used to be Freedom Park beside the University of San Jose-Recoletos. The answer was that it was an “obelex”.

“Obelex? Mora’g sa CCLEX?” one of the kids further asked. An answer could not be provided.

To be clear, that structure is an obelisk. A monument with origins in ancient Egypt but now accepted as a symbol of power in modern society.
