Dead pig

PIG. An American student, a participant in an exchange visitors program, was visiting the Philippines for the first time. She was given a lavish bienvenida or welcome party. The center piece, of course, was lechon.

FOOD. The student wrote her parents in the States about the lavish welcome party. Among the things she wrote her parents about was the food which she called native. "I told the folks at home about the dead pig on the table," she said to an Ear informer whom she had just befriended.
