The happiest Pinoy search is underway

HAVE BAT WILL STRIKE - Juanito V. Jabat   - The Philippine Star

The headline says: “P163-M lotto Pot Still Unclaimed.” Maybe because it’s only money.

A political writer says many senatorial bets are old and recycled. What’s wrong with that? Isn’t recycling being promoted today?

***

Bam Aquino, a cousin (?) of President PNoy, is being considered for inclusion in the admin senatorial ticket. The opposition doesn’t like it. Why? Because Bam looks like a xerox copy of the late Ninoy Aquino.

There’s a search going on for the Happiest Pinoy. This is a project of the Cebuana Lhuillier. The aim is to find the country’s most optimistic Pinoy who can keep smiling and maintain a good-natured demeanor while overcoming life’s challenges.

In these difficult and challenging times it may be hard to find the Happiest Pinoy. But then again, Pinoys are by nature happy. Even when threatened by a neck-deep floodwater, they still manage to wave at a TV camera and make faces at the cameraman.

The 100-day countdown to the canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod was launched here in Cebu a few days ago. It was spearheaded by former Cebu Archbishop Ricardo Cardinal Vidal and incumbent Cebu Archbishop Jose Palma.

***

The countdown should involve not only Cebuanos but the entire Filipino nation since the forthcoming Saint Pedro will be the country’s second saint next to Saint Lorenzo Ruiz. My take for whatever it is worth.

One Catholic lay minister, Andre Lopez from Masbate, says: “It behooves every Filipino Catholic to rejoice over the canonization of Blessed Pedro Calungsod and everyone should join with joy in the 100-day countdown that officially started in Cebu.”

OVERHEARD. One college coed was heard whispering to a classmate: “Sukad nakauyab og tiguwang Insik ang niadto namaligyag fishball maghigh heel na inig eskuyla.”

Student wants to sue barber for wrong haircut

WRONG HAIRCUT. A male college student wants to know if he could sue a barber who gave him a wrong haircut style. “Paglingkud nako akong giingnan ang barbero nga mao lang gihapon ang tupi nga gusto ko,” the student said. “Mitangdo siya.”

MOHICAN CUT. After the job was over the student said he had a haircut like that of an Indian Mohican. “Perte gyung ngil-ara,” the student said, adding “Nagpaupaw nalang ko.” It turned out that the barber who worked on his hair was not his “suki” and he was drowsy when he sat down for the haircut job.
