World peace can happen only through Fatima

SHOOTING STRAIGHT - Bobit S. Avila -

It’s Holy Thursday and allow me to give you my own insights on the importance of Holy Thursday in the Magisterium of the Catholic Church as it is when our Lord Jesus Christ instituted the Holy Eucharist during the Last Supper and it teaches us about Servant Leadership. Today’s Gospel comes from John 13: 1-15. It is the Washing of the Disciples Feet. We know very well this scripture passage, where our Lord Jesus Christ washed the feet of his disciples. St. Peter resisted at first but our Lord told him that he would not get any inheritance from God.

The message of our Lord Jesus Christ is clearly written in Scripture, “If I therefore, the master and teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash one another’s feet. I have given you a model to follow, so that as I have done for you, you should also do.” I really hope that for this Holy Thursday, our political and religious leaders would take this scripture passage into their hearts and embrace what we call “Servant Leadership,” where someone who wants to be our leader must accept or embrace to be our servant.

This teaching about Servant Leadership is very clear to us, but very difficult for our political leaders to embrace, although many of them, especially during elections, profess to be seeking public office in order to serve our poor people. Most of them do it as a mere lip service, though like when Pres. Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino, III declared that we are “his boss.” But that was only a figure of speech.

The other lesson that we must embrace on Holy Thursday is that it was the time when our Lord Jesus Christ instituted the Holy Eucharist, when he gave his body, blood, soul and divinity in the Holy Bread so he can always be with us until the end of time. This is why our Lord Jesus Christ was born in Bethlehem, which means in Hebrew “the house of bread,” where later our Lord said about himself, “I am the Bread of Life that came down from heaven. Your ancestors ate Manna sent by God from heaven, but they still died. I am the living bread that God sent from heaven for you to eat and have eternal life.” This is why the most sacred moment in the Holy Mass is the consecration where the bread becomes the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Meanwhile, for the rest of Holy Week, may I suggest that you do some spiritual readings and perhaps reflect on the issue why the world is still in turmoil. While we have no ongoing world wars, there is so much civil strife, even here at home where the New People’s Army (NPA) continues to ravage the countryside and villages. In my book, the answer to world peace can only be found in the message of our Immaculate Virgin during her Oct. 13, 1917 apparitions before three children in Fatima.

We already wrote a column about that controversial book entitled “The 4th Secret of Fatima” written by Catholic writer Antonio Socci, who insists that the 3rd Secret of Fatima was not shown to the public in its entirety, which is why he calls that hidden portion as the 4th Secret of Fatima. In a letter from Sister Lucia to her confessor on May 13, 1936, she wrote;

“(Our Lord Jesus said)… because I want My whole church to acknowledge that Consecration as a triumph of the Immaculate Heart of Mary, so that it may extend its cult later on, and put the devotion to This Immaculate Heart beside the devotion to My Sacred Heart. Nevertheless the Immaculate Heart of Mary will save Russia. It has been entrusted to here.”

In another letter to Fr. Fuentes in Dec. 26, 1957, Sister Lucia said, “Father, the Blessed Virgin is very sad because no one heeds her message; neither the good nor the bad. The good continue on with their life of virtue and apostolate, but they do not unite their lives to the message of Fatima. Sinners keep following the road of evil because they do not see the terrible chastisement about to befall them.” We all know that the 3rd Secret of Fatima foretold the great apostasy happening now inside the Church, all the way up to the Vatican.

In Fatima, the Blessed Virgin Mary explained to the three children that war is the punishment for sin and that God would castigate the world for its continued disobedience to His Divine Will. The Blessed Mother wanted Russia to be consecrated into her Immaculate Heart but so far, even if the Vatican and many Popes after the 1917 apparitions have been declared as “Divinely inspired,” the Vatican has not done this. Thus the Blessed Virgin’s simple request remains unheeded by the Catholic hierarchy. For this Good Friday, from noon to 3:00pm, I exhort our fellow Catholics to please pray the Holy Rosary and dedicate it to world peace, that finally, the Pope would heed the request of the Blessed Virgin and consecrate Russia into her Immaculate Heart.
