Call center manager echoes city officials' request to DepEd to improve English program

TEACH THE TEACHERS. A call center manager told The Ear that the officials of Cebu City is on the right track to request the Department of Education to fast track its program designed to enhance the teaching skills of public school teachers on the English language for them to also improve the students’ ability to speak English. She said, “We should teach the teachers how to speak English the right way. If the teacher speaks English well, she can effectively teach correct English to the students. But the reality is, most teachers, especially in public schools, speak Carabao English so they pass on their mistake to the students. We don’t accept Carabao English in call centers.”

URGENT NEED. This call center manager added that this is an urgent need and for the DepEd to act on this as soon as possible. She said, “There is a huge gap between the supply and the demand of call centers for good English speakers.”
