Josiah Antonio - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Public utility vehicles (PUV) can start applying for special permits on Sept. 21 to serve more commuters during All Saints’ and All Souls’ Days, according to the Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board.

Acting LTFRB Chairman Greg Pua Jr. said the goal is to ensure that “there will be no stranded passengers.”

Filing period is from Sept. 21 to Oct. 2.

Special permits are valid from Oct. 28 to Nov. 6.

Over 800 buses were given special permits last year.

Eligible PUVs should not be more than 14 years old from the date of manufacture, among other conditions.
