Cops seize 10 kilos of shabu in Pagadian City

COTABATO CITY, Philippines — Personnel of the Police Highway Patrol Team-Zamboanga del Sur in Region 9 foiled in Pagadian City on Tuesday, April 28, an attempt by a resident of this city to deliver P68 million worth of shabu to contacts in the area.
The suspect, Jomar Abdullah, who had confirmed to local executives and police probers in Pagadian City that he resides in Esteros area in Barangay Rosary Heights 9 in Cotabato City, is now detained.
Officials of the Zamboanga del Sur Provincial Police Office, under the Police Regional Office 9, told reporters on Wednesday that a highway patrol team, led by Police Major Jason Ray Gomera, flagged down Abdullah’s white trike in Barangay Buenavista in Pagadian City only to check its registration but immediately held him instead when they found it there were 10 plastic packs, containing crystalline particles, under its rear seat.
Officials of the Police Drug Enforcement Unit in Pagadian City and anti-narcotics agents from the Zamboanga del Sur provincial police, whom Gomera requested to do an on-site inspection of what they found in Abdullah’s trike had confirmed that each of the seized 10 plastic packs contained a kilo of shabu, with a total value of P68 million, or P6.8 million per pack.
Besides shabu, Gomera and his subordinates also confiscated from Abdullah identification cards stating he, indeed, is a resident of Cotabato City.
Police investigators and anti-narcotics agents from units of PRO-9 are now validating reports that Abdullah was to bring the shabu seized from him, from a dealer somewhere in the Zamboanga peninsula, to contacts in far-flung areas in Central Mindanao.
Friends and relatives of Abdullah in Cotabato City had told reporters that he is a large-scale shabu and marijuana dealer and has accomplices in Central Mindanao’s adjoining Maguindanao del Sur, Maguindanao del Norte and Cotabato provinces.
