Man attacks family; wife killed
CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — A woman was killed while her son was wounded after her husband allegedly attacked them with a knife in Angono, Rizal yesterday morning.
The fatality, identified as Maria Lourdes, 45, died from a stab wound in the neck. Her body was found at the scene of the incident, which occurred at the house of the family in a subdivision in Barangay Mahabang Parang.
The woman’s 15-year-old son suffered a stab wound in the body, but managed to run out of the house along with his younger sibling.
The children sought the help of the subdivision’s guards, who called the police.
After the attack, the suspect reportedly tried to commit suicide by stabbing himself, according to Lt. Col. Ariel Azurin, Angono police chief.
Relatives told police that the suspect was experiencing financial difficulties, noting he borrowed money to pay the mortgage of their house and two vehicles.
