Rebel killed in Mindoro clash

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — An alleged New People’s Army (NPA) guerrilla was killed in an encounter in Roxas, Oriental Mindoro on Tuesday.

The fatality was reportedly among a group of armed men extorting residents in Barangay San Vicente.

The men reportedly fired shots at responding Army troopers, triggering an encounter that resulted in the death of the guerrilla. The men retreated, leaving behind their fallen comrade.

Soldiers recovered at the scene of the firefight a rifle, ammunition, revolutionary documents and personal belongings.
