154 pass 2025 Shari’ah Bar exams

MANILA, Philippines — Of the 628 examinees who completed the two-day 2025 Shari’ah Special Bar Examinations (SSBE) in May, 24.48 percent or 154 have passed, the Supreme Court announced yesterday.

SC Associate Justice Antonio Kho Jr., chairman of the 2025 SSBE, said examinees may view their scores online.

Kho said the results would also be posted on the SC’s official Shari’ah Bar microsite and other communication channels.

The Shari’ah Bar is a specialized examination focused on Islamic laws.

Passing the Bar is required for anyone who wishes to practice as a Shari’ah legal counsel or judge under the Shari’ah court system. 

Shari’ah courts have jurisdiction over matters concerning Muslim marriage, family relations, succession and inheritance as provided under the Code of Muslim Personal Laws.

The top three passers are Princess Jannah Pumbaya who obtained a grade of 89.97 percent followed by Ali Hadji Batugan with 87.22 and Mae Joyce Magbanua-Anjalin with 86.38 percent.

The rest are Ahmed-Khaled Guro, 86.13 percent; Marianne Esther Aniceto-Guinomla, 85.22; Sittie Ayra Abedin,  84.47; Norhaya Lago, 84.19; Al-Fatah Abdullah, 83.88,  Noraldin Norodin, 83.57, and Ayinie Basher with 83.13 percent.

The 2025 SSBE, conducted on May 25 and 28, is considered as a milestone for the judiciary as it was the first fully digitalized SSBE held in four local testing centers – University of the Philippines-Diliman, Mindanao State University-Iligan Institute of Technology, Ateneo de Davao University and Ateneo de Zamboanga University.

Kho said the oath-taking will be on Aug. 6 at the Manila Hotel.
