MANILA, Philippines — A woman was arrested after she allegedly attempted to sneak suspected shabu into the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa on Sunday.

The Bureau of Corrections (BuCor) said Wilmar Castro was arrested after Jail Officer 1 Everlyn Mary Pingian discovered the contraband while conducting a strip search.

Based on the report, Castro was instructed to squat several times after she was seen inserting an object in her private parts.

This led to the discovery of a tube containing an undisclosed amount of suspected shabu.

Castro, who was supposed to visit a relative serving time at the NBP’s medium security compound, was turned over to the Muntinlupa police.

BuCor chief Gregorio Catapang Jr. yesterday approved the spot promotion of Pingian following Castro’s arrest.

“We hope to have more Pingians in the BuCor, worthy of emulation. Maybe if all corrections officers are like her, the drug problem in prisons will be reduced,” Catapang said.
