MANILA, Philippines — Workers will mount a protest action today to push for the immediate granting of salary increases whether through legislation or wage order.

Members of the Union for Wage Increase Now will troop to the Department of Labor and Employment central office in Intramuros, Manila for the protest.

According to the labor group, workers are urgently seeking a significant wage hike.

“This can be done through the issuance of a wage increase order or through legislation,” the group said, adding that workers nationwide are suffering from low wages.

Several tripartite regional wages and productivity boards have approved wage hikes including for household helpers.
