Pasig: 2 of 17 kids die of ‘whooping cough’

MANILA, Philippines — Two of 17 children in Pasig who contracted pertussis or “whooping cough” have died, the city government said yesterday. 

The children, infected from January to March, ranged in age from 23 days to 11 years old. A one-month-old boy and a two-month-old girl died of pertussis.

The city is monitoring eight other children as probable cases.

The local government has intensified its immunization in barangays with reported cases.
