MANILA, Philippines — San Miguel Corp. (SMC) president Ramon Ang yesterday announced that he would donate P150 million worth of food and school equipment to inmates under the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).

Ang made the announcement during his visit to the University of Perpetual Help System Dalta’s Bilibid Extension School at the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) in Muntinlupa.

During his speech, Ang also promised to bring the Ginebra San Miguel or Magnolia Hotshots players to play with the inmates in the NBP, depending on which team wins the Philippine Basketball Association championship.

He also assured inmates graduating from the extension school that he would provide them with job opportunities.

He said SMC and BuCor would continue collaborating with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority (TESDA) to train inmates.

According to BuCor chief Gregorio Catapang, a total of 9,061 inmates have graduated from various TESDA programs.
