DOJ to probe 2 Taiwanese with Philippine IDs

Nillicent Bautista - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Justice would investigate two Taiwanese found with several identification cards apparently issued by the Philippine government, a DOJ official said yesterday.

The IDs, which have yet to be verified, were found on Yuan Bo-Chun and Lin Jyu-Ze, who were arrested by Bureau of Immigration (BI) personnel in Makati City on Jan. 22.

Yuan is wanted for human trafficking in Taiwan.

DOJ spokesman Mico Clavano said BI personnel found a driver’s license, a Professional Regulation Commission card, a Philippine Postal Corp. card and national IDs on the two Taiwanese.

“The DOJ is already investigating how the IDs were obtained, the different names under them and the purposes behind them,” he said.

Clavano said the DOJ seeks to determine who is behind this “syndicate… this is part of a larger scheme, a larger operation.”
