DTI confiscates illegal fireworks in Bulacan

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) inspected establishments selling fireworks and confiscated illegal firecrackers and pyrotechnics in Bocaue, Bulacan yesterday.

Latest figures from the DTI- Fair Trade Enforcement Bureau showed that four of the 33 firecracker stores that were inspected were issued notices of violation.

DTI Assistant Secretary Amanda Nograles said 784 pieces of illegal fireworks were pulled out from the stores.

Nograles said the value of the confiscated fireworks is still being assessed.

Based on the list issued by the DTI- Bureau of Philippine Standards, there are only 15 DTI-certified brands of fireworks with PS license numbers as of Dec. 11.

Among these are Dragon Fireworks by Dragon Fireworks Inc., Diamond by Diamond Fireworks Inc., LF Fireworks by Legendary Fireworks Inc., Pegasus by Pegasus Fireworks, Phoenix by Phoenix Fireworks, Double L by Double L Fireworks, Nation by Nation Fireworks, and LLF by Luha Leonardo’s Fireworks Manufacturing.

Other certified brands are Andy’s Fireworks by Andy Moldogo Firecrackers and Pyrotechnic Device, Yango Fireworks by Yangco Fireworks Manufacturing, Star Light by Star Light Fireworks, A. Santiago Fireworks by A. Santiago Fireworks, 4Sure Fireworks by 4Sure Fireworks, Mirabel Sta. Ana Fireworks by Maribel Sta. Ana Fireworks and JPL Fireworks by JPL Manufacturing Fireworks.
