MANILA, Philippines — A policeman is under investigation after he allegedly stole a motorcycle issued to another police officer in Quezon City.

Cpl. Xavier Armando Ayo, 35, was taken into custody at the parking lot of the district mobile unit of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) at Camp Karingal at around 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

Ayo was identified as the person who took the motorcycle of a police corporal, who said the patrol motorcycle issued to him, a Yamaha XTZ, which he left at the camp on Oct. 22, was missing on Oct. 24.

Police investigators reviewed the camp’s closed-circuit television footage, which revealed that Ayo, who is assigned with the district’s chief directorial staff office, was the one who took the motorcycle without the victim’s consent.

Ayo was apprehended on Friday by police officers who discreetly followed him as he entered Karingal.

The motorcycle was recovered at the compound of the QCPD’s district medical unit.

The policeman is facing a criminal complaint for motorcycle theft.
