2 cops nabbed in drug sting

MANILA, Philippines — Two police officers were arrested in a sting in Muntinlupa City on Thursday night.

Patrolman Rey Baldonasa, 25, who is assigned to the National Capital Region Police Office’s regional drug enforcement unit, and Carlos Navarro, a policeman declared to be absent without official leave from the Caloocan police, were apprehended along Amparo street in Barangay Poblacion just before midnight on Thursday.

Anti-narcotics operatives seized over 10 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu with a street value of P68,000, two 9mm pistols and two magazines from the two lawmen.

Baldanosa and Navarro face charges of violating Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and RA 10591, the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition and the election-related gun ban.
