MANILA, Philippines — Twenty kilos of shabu with an estimated street value of P136 million were seized in Parañaque on Tuesday, the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) reported yesterday.

The illegal drugs were in the possession of three people who were the targets of a sting in Barangay Tambo, PDEA spokesman Derrick Carreon said.

Two of the suspects – Mark Joseph Cortez, 36, and Jacqueline Espinosa, 37 – were arrested while their cohort, Marion King John Cortez, escaped.

The suspects are being held on charges of violation of Republic Act 9165, the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act.

An investigation to identify the source of the illegal drugs is ongoing.

Meanwhile, 45 milliliters of liquid cannabis valued at P32,640 had been intercepted at the Central Mail Exchange Center in Pasay City on Tuesday

Col. Dionisio Bartrolome Jr., director of the police Drug Enforcement Group, said the cannabis originated from Taiwan and was consigned to a resident of Dumaguete City in Negros Oriental.

The illegal substance was turned over to the PDEA for documentation and proper disposition.
