No typhoon seen this week

MANILA, Philippines — State meteorologists are not expecting any typhoon to enter the Philippine area of responsibility (PAR) this week despite the cloud clusters in Mindanao.
Obet Badrina, weather specialist at the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration, said no weather disturbance is expected in the next seven days.
“The southwest monsoon is still being enhanced by Typhoon Falcon, which is now in southern Japan, but its effect is still felt in the western part of Luzon,” Badrina said.
He said the possibility of the cloud clusters in Mindanao developing into a typhoon is slim.
“A majority of areas in Luzon, the Visayas and Mindanao will experience generally humid weather,” Badrina said, noting that rainshowers and thunderstorms will occur in the afternoon and night.
