MANILA, Philippines — The North Luzon Expressway (NLEX) Corp. has added weighbridge stations for trucks across its toll roads to promote safety of motorists and prevent damage to infrastructure.
In an advisory, the NLEX Corp. said it installed additional weighbridges along the expressway as well as along the Subic-Clark-Tarlax Expressway (SCTEX) and NLEX Connector Road, to compel truck drivers to comply with the anti-overloading regulation.
New weighbridges were also set up along the Porac, Pampanga and Concepcion, Tarlac segments of the SCTEX.
Private operator ACB Truck Scale opened another weighbridge along the Dinalupihan, Bataan stretch of the SCTEX that trucks may use any time of the week. Truckers have to pay service charges ranging from P400 to P600, proceeds of which will go to the ACB.
For the rest of the year, the NLEX Corp. plans to install weighbridge stations in multiple locations along the NLEX, SCTEX and NLEX Connector Road.
The company wants to place these in Mindanao Avenue and Karuhatan in Valenzuela for the NLEX, and in Floridablanca, Pampanga for the SCTEX.
The NLEX Corp. operates weighbridge stations in 12 existing locations along the NLEX as well as in four satellite areas in partnership with private firms. – Ramon Efren Lazaro
