Rudy Santos - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — Quarantine and customs officers confiscated approximately 51 kilos of assorted fruits and processed meat from incoming foreign passengers at the Ninoy Aquino Intenational Airport Terminal 1 yesterday.

Among the confiscated items were 21.5 kilos of mangosteen, six kilos of mangoes and 20 kilos of pomelo brought by a Vietnamese passenger from her home country.

Two passengers from Xiamen, China brought 4.5 kilos of processed meat.

The fruits and processed meat were confiscated after the passengers failed to produce import and health certificates from their port of origin and from the Bureau of Plant Industry and Bureau of Animal Industry, officials said.
