MANILA, Philippines — The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) is implementing safety and security protocols in anticipation of the influx of motorists returning from the provinces, an official said yesterday.

The agency will implement a “no leave, no day off” policy for its personnel, acting MMDA Chairman Romando Artes Jr. told The STAR.

He added that the MMDA will continue to monitor bus stations, airports and sea ports to make sure there are no obstructions.

Except for the influx of passengers at transport terminals on Holy Wednesday and Maundy Thursday, Artes reported that “generally everything (was) OK” during this year’s Holy Week break.

Meanwhile, the number coding scheme remains suspended today to mark Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor, which was declared by Malacañang as a non-working holiday.
