MANILA, Philippines — The Quezon City Police District has reported a high crime solution rate for the first quarter of 2023, citing the “public order and safety interventions” done by the QCPD and the city government.
In a report recently presented to the city’s peace and order council, which Mayor Joy Belmonte heads, the QCPD said it has a crime solution efficiency of 93.75 percent in January, 93.79 percent in February and 90.65 percent in March – an average crime solution rate of 92.73 percent.
The crimes included in the report are eight index crimes: murder, homicide, physical injury, rape, robbery, theft, vehicle theft and motorcycle theft.
The QCPD recorded 160 cases of the eight index crimes in January, 161 cases in February and 139 cases in March.
“This shows an increase in the percentage of solved cases out of the total cases reported to QCPD,” the city government said in a statement.
The QCPD said the high crime solution rate may be attributed to three factors: the full utilization of QCitizen Helpline 122, an enhanced emergency hotline that provides assistance during emergencies as well as a complaint and feedback mechanism from its callers; the efficiency of the three-minute police response time policy through the Integrated Command and Control Center, and the continuous conduct of simulation exercises and constant monitoring of identified crime-prone areas in the city.
“The QCPD vows to make the city a safer place for QCitizens and together with the local government, we will continue to strive to acheve a crime-free community,” QCPD chief Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III said.
Meanwhile, Belmonte encouraged residents to continue reporting crimes to the police through the QC Helpline 122.
She also called on barangay leaders to conduct patrols day and night.
“With the continuous joint efforts of our barangays and the police in monitoring crime-prone areas especially at night, we can ensure the safety of our QCitizens,” Belmonte said.
