Zamboanga City, Philippines — Two women died and 26 other passengers were injured when a truck rammed a house along the highway east of this city early yesterday.
The victims are canning factory workers and residents of Barangay Lamisahan.
The accident occurred in Sitio Daap in Barangay Sangali, Lt. Col. Paul Andrew Cortes, spokesman for the Zamboanga City police, said.
Initial investigation showed the truck driven by Banny Martinez Jr., 26, was speeding while driving down the road when its brake malfunctioned.
Witnesses said the truck rolled over three times. Some of the passengers were thrown off the vehicle.
