MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) yesterday warned the public of fake text messages and social media posts claiming that all senior citizens will receive a monthly social pension of P1,000 starting this month if they register online.
Registration is not required to become beneficiaries of the Social Pension for Indigent Senior Citizens amounting to P500 monthly, the DSWD said.
However, the agency said it does not yet have a schedule for the release of the additional P500 from the National Commission of Senior Citizens since the budget for this has yet to be released by the Department of Budget and Management.
The DSWD has appealed to the public to remain “vigilant” and to refrain from entertaining text messages from unknown individuals and sharing unverified social media content to avoid sowing confusion.
