Woman held for smuggling shabu in Bilibid

Ralph Edwin Villanueva - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A 50-year-old woman has been arrested after she allegedly tried to sneak in more than P1 million worth of shabu in the New Bilibid Prison (NBP)’s maximum security compound in Muntinlupa City.

In a statement yesterday, the Southern Police District said Maria Cristina Antonio was arrested on Friday while being frisked by jail officers at the NBP.

Antonio reportedly yielded a heat-sealed plastic sachet containing at least 150 grams of shabu.

The Bureau of Corrections turned over the suspect to the Muntinlupa City police on Saturday.

A complaint for violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 is being readied against Antonio.
