2 drown in Cavite

CAMP VICENTE LIM, Laguna, Philippines — Two persons drowned while another survived in Ternate, Cavite on Sunday.

The remains of Lolito Bolea, 55, and Joy Medina, 46, were recovered by members of a local search and rescue team.

The same team rescued Sandy Poblete, 23, who was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Reports said the victims were part of a group of workers who were on a company outing on a beach in Barangay Sapang 1.

The workers were swimming when strong winds and waves hit them, prompting them to swim back to the shore.

The victims failed to swim back as they were reportedly dragged toward a deeper portion of the water.
