442 seniors in San Juan to get cash gift

Jose Rodel Clapano - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines — A total of 442 senior citizens who turned 70, 80 and 90 this year will be honored by the San Juan City government today.

Mayor Francis Zamora said the senior citizens would receive cash gifts during the ceremony at the city hall’s Atrium at 9:30 a.m.

“We are doing this to recognize the efforts of our senior citizens in nation building. This is also a way to help them with their needs,” Zamora said.

He urged the elderly to register with the city’s senior citizen affairs office.

City hall said P3,000 would be given to seniors who reached 70 years old, P5,000 for 80-year-old citizens and P8,000 for those aged 90.
