MANILA, Philippines — A woman was arrested yesterday for alleged indiscriminate firing at the house of her former boyfriend while her companion was killed in what police said was a shootout in Sta. Mesa, Manila.

Kristie Rose Castro was nabbed after she allegedly engaged police in a hot pursuit operation along Ramon Magsaysay Boulevard at past midnight yesterday.

Castro, who was in a Ford Ranger pickup, allegedly fired at responding police, who retaliated.

Probers said they are eyeing a crime of passion as a possible motive because the suspect fired at the house of her former boyfriend prior to the chase, Manila Police District director Brig. Gen. Andre Dizon said in a News5 report.

The suspect’s housemaid, identified only as Ivy in the police report, was shot dead.
