Engineer shot dead

SAN FERNANDO CITY, La Union, Philippines — A site engineer of a telecommunications company was gunned down in Barangay Lingsat in this city on Tuesday.

Frederick Asper, 42, a resident of San Vicente in Agoo, La Union, was parking his service vehicle when the assailant approached and shot him several times, his companion Roy del Rosario told investigators.

In Quezon, Rodel Panaligan, 41, was killed in a gun attack in Barangay Sta. Catalina Norte in Candelaria town. His niece, Mary Isabel, 16, died after she was hit by a stray bullet.

Investigations into the shootings are underway.
