MANILA, Philippines — A policeman shot dead a man who allegedly got the officer’s wife pregnant, in Quezon City on Tuesday.
A manhunt is underway for Cpl. Benjamil Saransaman, 29, after witnesses tagged him as the suspect in the killing of Jasper Dacayo, 30.
Probers said Saransaman, together with his wife, arrived at Dacayo’s house along Don Manuel street in Barangay Salvacion at around 6:15 p.m. to confront him about his alleged illicit affair with the suspect’s spouse.
Dacayo arrived after a few minutes and was met by the irate police officer.
A commotion ensued after Saransaman accused Dacayo of getting his wife pregnant.
Witnesses said the suspect pulled out a handgun and fired at Dacayo several times.
Saransaman and his wife then fled on a motorcycle.
Barangay public safety officers rushed the victim to the Chinese General Hospital where Dacayo died at around 7:15 p.m.
The victim’s corpse was brought to a funeral parlor for an autopsy.
