MANILA, Philippines — Two persons were injured after eight vehicles figured in an accident along the Katipunan flyover in Quezon City yesterday morning.

The smash-up occurred along the southbound lane of the flyover in Barangay Escopa 3, according to a report from the Quezon City Police District.

Probers said a 10-wheeler truck bound for Col. Bonny Serrano Avenue hit a sport utility vehicle at around 8:15 a.m.

Six more vehicles collided during the mishap.

Police said the victims suffered bruises and were treated by rescuers at the scene.

Authorities took into custody the truck’s driver, Franklin Caramihan, 42.

Caramihan will face charges of reckless imprudence resulting in physical injuries, police said.

The suspect told police that the truck’s brakes malfunctioned.

In Manila, a white Ford Everest turned on its side at Lambingan bridge in Sta. Ana yesterday morning.

A dzBB report said the driver, identified only as Jim, may have fallen asleep.

There was no spot report about the accident from the Manila Police District because the car had been taken away when investigators arrived at the scene, according to MPD spokesman Maj. Philipp Ines. – Ralph Edwin Villanueva, Marc Jayson Cayabyab
