MANILA, Philippines — A 14-year-old boy was killed by six boys in Quezon City on Thursday.

The victim, a Grade 8 student, was walking with a classmate along E. Rodriguez Boulevard in Barangay Doña Imelda at around 6:20 p.m. when the boys accosted him.

The suspects, some of whom were armed with knives, repeatedly stabbed the victim, according to Quezon City Police District (QCPD) director Brig. Gen. Nicolas Torre III.

Torre told GMA News that the attack was unprovoked.

The victim’s companion managed to escape from the scene. Bystanders brought the victim to the Delos Santos Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead on arrival.

Operatives from the QCPD Station 11 apprehended all six boys during a follow-up operation.

Mayor Joy Belmonte condemned the incident.

“I cannot conceive that at their young age they could commit such a crime,” she said in Filipino in a statement.

“I urge parents to guard their children well so they are not led astray,” Belmonte added.
