Magnitude-4.3 quake shakes Ilocos provinces

BAGUIO CITY, Philippines — A magnitude-4.3 earthquake shook parts of the Ilocos provinces yesterday morning.

The quake, which occurred at around 6:50 a.m., was located 35 kilometers northwest of Burgos town in Ilocos Norte, according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology.

Phivolcs said the quake was tectonic in origin and was not expected to generate aftershocks.

The temblor was felt at Intensity 4 in Adams, Bacarra, Bangui, Pagudpud, Pasuquin and Pinili as well as Laoag in Ilocos Norte.

Intensity II was felt in Sinait and Vigan in Ilocos Sur.

Intensity I was recorded in Claveria in Cagayan province.
