Maguindanao town mayor nabbed for murder
DAVAO CITY, Philippines — The mayor of Pandag town in Magindanao, who was wanted for alleged involvement in the murder of a couple, was arrested in a hotel in this city on Saturday.
Khaddafe Mangudadatu, 44, was collared by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) at around 4:15 p.m. at the Royal Mandaya Hotel on Palma Gil street.
Mangudadatu, brother of former Maguindanao Gov. Esmael “Toto” Mangudadatu, has been wanted in connection with the murder of Abdullah Ligawan and his wife Lala in October 2010 in President Quirino, Sultan Kudarat.
Aside from Mangudadatu, included in the arrest warrants were his brother Zajid, Tunggal Usop and Mamayang Amino.
After the arrest, Mangudadatu complained of chest pain and difficulty in breathing, prompting the CIDG officers to bring him to the Davao Doctors Hospital for treatment.
The arrest was based on a warrant issued by Judge Samina Usman of the Tacurong Regional Trial Court.
Mangudadatu will remain under the custody of the CIDG as the case he is facing is non-bailable.
